The Kitchen Chore Index
We analyzed verified buyer reviews across eight small kitchen appliance categories to find where cleaning makes or breaks the purchase. The pattern is stark: the wetter and stickier the job, the more owners judge the machine on cleanup. Blender buyers discuss cleaning nearly 2.7× as much as kettle buyers.

What the data shows
- Cleaning is the make-or-break feature for the “wet bowl” class. Blenders, ice cream makers, rice cookers, milk frothers, and coffee grinders top the index — residue, sticky bases, and fiddly parts dominate what owners talk about.
- It barely registers for dry, simple appliances. Electric kettles and stand mixers sit at the bottom; owners decide on boil speed, materials, and mixing power instead.
- The spread is large. Cleaning takes up nearly 2.7× more of the conversation for the top category than the bottom one — so how much cleaning should sway your decision depends heavily on which appliance you’re buying.
How to use it
Weight “easy to clean” heavily when you buy a top-of-index appliance — a blender, ice cream maker, or rice cooker, where a hard-to-clean model is the one that ends up in the cupboard. For a kettle or a stand mixer, cleaning is rarely the problem, so spend your attention on performance and build.
Methodology
We synthesized verified buyer reviews across eight leading small kitchen appliance categories using aggregated topic analysis, tracking how often cleaning appears in each category’s reviews relative to every other attribute. The figure for each category is a category-wide benchmark, not a single product. Noolaguide does not run a lab or accept manufacturer units; our authority is the accumulated experience of verified owners at scale — no sponsored reviews, no invented reviewers. The underlying method and category detail are available on request. More categories will be added as the dataset expands.

- It ranks small kitchen appliance categories by how much cleaning dominates their buyer reviews — that is, what share of what owners say about a category is about cleaning it. A higher score means cleaning is more central to whether owners are satisfied with the purchase.
- By how much cleaning dominates the conversation, blenders top the index, followed by ice cream makers and rice cookers — the "wet bowl" appliances where residue and fiddly parts drive the reviews. Electric kettles and stand mixers sit at the bottom, where cleaning barely registers and owners judge on performance instead.

- No. A high score means cleaning is decisive for that category — so weigh "easy to clean" heavily when you buy a blender, ice cream maker, or rice cooker. A low score, like a kettle, means cleaning is rarely an issue, so you can spend your attention on other features.
